Warriors fall to Indiana, skid reaches 4 games

Warriors coach Keith Smart knows why his team's 109-100 loss to Indiana on Tuesday night seemed so staggeringly disjointed.

"I've got two teams right now," he said. "I've got a good offensive team, and then I've got a good defensive team. I've got nothing in the middle. I've got to find a way to splice them and make them into one again."
The Warriors (26-33) played no defense in the first quarter at Conseco Fieldhouse, watching the Pacers go on an 8-0 run to take a 26-13 lead. Reserves Ekpe Udoh and Jeremy Lin sparked a 21-1 turnaround in the second quarter, but the Warriors gave up an 11-0 run in the third.
In losing four straight since returning from the All-Star break, the Warriors' offense and defense rarely have complemented each other.
"That's how it looks," said guard Monta Ellis, who had 13 points on 5-for-16 shooting with a sore wrist. "Sometimes our energy is up. Sometimes it's not. We're up and down right now."
The game of swingman Reggie Williams offers a perfect individual illustration of the team's woes: He scored a team-high 25 points, hitting 10 of 14 field-goal attempts.
But Indiana (27-32) took advantage of Williams at the other end. Whomever he guarded became the primary target of the Pacers' offense. Danny Granger (27 points), Paul George (12), Dahntay Jones (10) and Brandon Rush (eight) each took a turn preying on Williams.
"He played half a game. There's another side of the floor," Smart said. "You can't just have 25 points and then let them go at you on the other end.
"The stat sheet will tell you it was a great night for Reggie Williams. The film will tell me another story."
