Quick rental in Dee Park

INVESTOR Mike Smith was delighted when he bought a new one-bedroom apartment at Dee Park in Tilehurst – and even more pleased when he got a tenant within 24 hours.Mike, 63, paid $134,950 for the flat, which included kitchen appliances, carpets and flooring, as well as a full furniture pack. And it took selling agents Romans just one day to find a tenant.Mike said: “My wife and I have downsized from our family home and because interest rates are so low we thought it would be a good idea to invest our nest egg in property and rent it out.

“We had no idea it could be so easy. The apartment was fully furnished, ready for tenants to move in, and Romans were confident they could find a tenant quickly, although we were amazed when it only took 24 hours”He added: “We couldn’t believe the price. It’s incredible value for the quality of the apartment and all the extras that are included.”Mike’s new apartment is housed in a low-rise building on the edge of the Dee Park estate, which is undergoing a major regeneration with plans for new houses, improved roads and surroundings, and new facilities.

The apartment is generously sized and arranged in a modern open plan style, with the living area opening on to a balcony.Meeting the Eco Homes rating of Excellent, it is also highly energy efficient. It was by chance that Mike, who has recently retired from his job as a consultant in the food industry, heard about Dee Park. While visiting Reading with his wife Chris, Mike was struck by the vibrancy of the town and thought it might be a good place to buy a property.A banner in Romans’ high street office announcing the release of new homes at Dee Park led to a visit the following day and an instant decision to buy a new one-bedroom apartment.
